T3: The Serpent Car

Mitsuoka Orochi

The Mitsuoka Orochi (光岡大蛇) is certainly no ordinary car and a definite head-turner. The word Orochi comes from the mythical Yamata no Orochi, an 8-headed Japanese dragon. First built by Mitsuoka Motors for the Tokyo Motor Show (TMS) in 2001 as a concept car based on the NSX chassis. Mitsuoka kept revising the car, showcasing a new version at TMS 2005: the Orochi Nude-Top Roadster. They finalised on the production model in October 2006 which was powered by a 3.3 litre 230 hp (172 kW) Toyota 3MZ-FE V6 engine.

Having grown its roots with TMS, it is therefore with no surprise that SB-Mitsuoka Orochi (TMS 2007) was produced in 2007. The result was a pearly back car decked with fine signatories (see pictures below).
