Will the Real Silhouette Please Stand Up?
Based on the Nissan R30, the Skyline Silhouette Formula (SSF) is an iconic car and in the "most wanted" list of many Tomica collectors. Interestingly enough, in motor car racing a "silhouette car" is define as having one having close resemblance to a real production car but is very different mechanically. The idea of having silhouette cars is to provide consumers affinity of their production cars to their racing brethren. This marketing ploy is commonly use by manufacturers to reap maximum marketing benefits while participating in racing competitions.
